Definition of a UK resident
Our travel insurance policies are designed to cover residents of the United Kingdom, which we consider as someone who:
- lives permanently in the UK; and
- has been registered with a UK medical practitioner for at least the last 6 months
Children under 6 months of age are also considered a UK resident provided they have had the NHS recommended inoculations.
However, we can also consider offering cover to temporary residents of the UK if all of the following apply:
- all travellers to be insured by the policy have lived in the UK for at least 6 months on the day the policy is purchased
- all travellers to be insured by the policy have been registered with a UK medical practitioner for at least 6 months on the day the policy is purchased
- all travellers to be insured by the policy have a visa allowing them to live and work or study in the UK beyond the end date of the policy
- all trips taken within the policy duration will begin and end in the UK
If any traveller you wish to insure does not meet all of the above criteria, you will need to look for more specialised cover for non-UK residents.
